Aren't all cars this way? After all leaving the key in when the car is parked and unattended isn't a good idea. Look at your state motor vehicle laws. It probably calls for use of parking lights while parked under certain circumstances. That is why we call them parking lights. I know this is the case in the stae in which I live if your park near rural roads at night. Heck it was even covered in the drivers manual and driver's ed.
