2000 is prettier inside.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: 6-cyl wagon - 2000 to 2003 upgrade?, Craig, Tue, 10 Apr 2007 18:56:45 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The 5 speed auto is only slightly better than the four speed, which is to say the four speed is fine and it's tough to tell them apart unless you drive them back to back and even then I still have to point it out.
The suspension upgrades affected only front turn in feel I believe. The effort on turn in doesn't ramp up as fast. Again another very subtle difference.
Interior wise the 03 could be either lightwood, the dull non glossy lighter (too light if you ask me) wood which can be darkened up with furniture polish, or it could be darkwood which is so dark it's hard to tell it's wood. The 03 will also have standard vented seats. Useful in hot climates, but a skosh less comfortable otherwise as the holes don't allow for the same kind of cushioning.
By contrast the 00 has dark burled walnut, a much richer glossy wood and the upholstery is more gathered on the earlier cars. You could get lucky and get an 03 with the rare touring package including xenons, park assist and rain sensing wipers and all 03 Arcs have the HomeLink garage door opening mirror.
Likely it will cost you 2 to 3 times the value of your 2000 to move up to an 03 and 9 outa' 10 folks won't be able to tell the difference. I suspect your 2000 is showing absolutely zero signs of wear if well cared for and it's no where near worn out, probably less than half way there. On the other hand if your determined to change cars, an 03 Arc is one of the best Saabs of all time. Folks love the V6.
