If the belt is not riding on center of pulleys you may also want to replace the belt tensioner because the very thin (about 1.0mm) plastic low friction slip plate that is located between the two castings of the tensioner wears out causing its pulley to be misaligned thus causing the belt to be off and eventually leaving you stranded when belt comes off. If you find the tensioner's pulley is what is making the sound it would help justify replacing the whole tensioner anyway because you get the pulley with it and the whole unit is easier to replace then just its pulley due to a very tight space (at least that was my experience).
