Hard acceleration creates loud clicking sound

Hi gang,
I need your help again. When I accelerate with heavy throttle, usually in sport mode on my 02 Aero auto, sometimes I will hear a very loud clicking sound.
As a kid, if you ever clothes pinned baseball cards to to the front forks and spokes of your bicycle, it sounds much like that, a loud slapping sound, very rapid, maybe three clicks or more per second, and LOUD.
Yesterday it was about 90 degrees F. and it seems to be temp related. The sound produced itself yesterday under moderate acceleration.
It ceases immediately after reducing throttle pressure. It sounds like it is coming from left side of engine.
I am bringing it in to have looked at but am anxious to know if anyone might know what it could be.
Could it be something in the intake system that has shaken loose and vibrates under increased pressure? I have no idea where to start.
Any suggestions appreciated.
