Excellent vintage.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Thinking of buying a 2003 9-5 Linear. Any pros/cons?, Melissa, Sat, 5 May 2007 10:41:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The 03's were the 2nd year of the mid cycle enhancement and the first year of the steering wheel paddle shifters for the automatic. The stick shift 9-5's are OK, not a snick-snick linkage, but OK. On the other hand the 5 speed autos are world class with sport mode as well full manual control with the steering wheel mounted paddles. Also the high torque turbo engines are particularly well suited to an auto. So there's nothing wrong with the sticks, but the automatics are excellent and even keep die hard stick fans happy. Try one and make sure you're not misssing out.
Early production 03's still had the lightwood dash, lighter and non-glossy, of the 02's whereas later production 03's had a darkwood dash, glossy and very dark. 03 was also the last year for many subtle features like the weatherband on the radio, umbrella holders in the lower B pillars next to the seat and other stuff.
The premium package cars are preferred with their memeory drivers seat (the tip off, if it has a memory drivers seat it has the prem pkg) and Harmon Kardon sound as well as an auto dimming/Home Link garage door opening/compass inside mirror.
