how to deactivate the alarm

I have a 2001 95 station wagon. For some reason, the alarm keeps going off and has created some big embarrassments, including a $145 fine in Columbas, Ohio when the resturant owner reported to the local police and had it towed. Is there a way to deactivate it permanently? The manual doesn't say there is. At this point, I just want to stop it and don't care about security any more. It has been a nightmare. Thanks in advance for any information.
