I have been looking for a good way to check the health of my fuel pump and found Anders' post from 16Dec., 2005 showing how to use an oscilloscope with a current probe to do this. I have all the requisite instrumentation to do this. My questions are: 1) What is the expected nominal current draw of the fuel pump? 2) What - besides the pump itself - is fed from the fuse?
The reason I am asking is that I have access to precision current shunts, but not clamp on current probes for my scope. I intend on replacing the fuse to the fuel pump, and replace it with one of the shunts. I'd simply like to know what else is out there so I take that into account when evaluating the data. Thanks in advance!
