windshield with rain sensor

My problem is that I have bought an Aero that had its windshield replaced with a non Saab windshild (by the previous owner). The replacement windshield seems the same as the one from Saab, yet the dealer thinks that Saab windshield has some kind of hook to hold the sensor on the windshield. From what I can see, on my my windshield, a plastic plate is glued on the windshield, and the sensor is simply held on the plate with braces that are secured on the plate. Also, a simple plastic black cap attaches to the same plate, covering the sensor. In other words, the only mechanism that holds the sensor seems to be the glue on the plate. Is this any different with the Saab OEM windshield? In any case, it seems that the glue does not hold - or at least, this is what the dealer told me and that he cannot make it hold other than for a Saab OEM windshield.
Does anybody have any experience with replacing a windshield in a car with rain sensing wipers? Any info about similar experiences will be much appreciated. Thanks.
