25,000 miles per year is what attracted me to Saab.... That, as well as the safety reputation and design.
I knew when I accepted my curent job assignment over 7 years ago that I would be placing 25,000+ miles per year on a car doing the daily commute. I chose to buy a Saab because of their reputation for long life and lots of miles.
I now have 197,600 miles on my 2000 9-5 and am shooting for 300,000 miles. Market value of the car is nearly nil (maybe $5,000 retail and $2,500 trade-in) but when calculating the "consumed value" of my car and comparing it against the accumulated miles, I still feel I have done better than by purchasing an less expensive and generic automobile.
My experience with other brands indicates substantial component replacement starts to occur at the 100,000 mile point. My car MAY be at that same initial component replacement point now, but at twice the miles.
