My understanding from reading this forum for two years is that the stop arm breaking is what causes the shaft to break by allowing the motor to overdrive the shaft. So it seems to me reasonable that if I can fairly easily replace the stops (there are two, correct?) for either $25 or $50 and prevent a more involved repair, then it makes sense to do so. I would rather spend $25-50 on my own schedule than do a $200 repair at a bound to be inconvenient time. And it WILL break on either the coldest or hottest week of the year.

Well, actually I am too cheap to spend the $200, I would do the pvc plumbing bits fix. :-)
