Hi all, been lurking around the board now for several months since my wife and I bought a used 1999 Saab 9-5 in November. I probably should have done some more research before buying, but overall it hasn't been that big a deal YET!

Car is a 1999 9-5 SE Wagon, I4 with about 107,000. 1 previous owner, I have all the service records from the back of the book as most of the service appears to have been done at the dealer in upstate South Carolina. He followed the recommended service of 10k intervals.

So here is my problem. At low speeds, like just above idle, while manuvering in a parking lot or pulling up my slightly inclined driveway, sometimes the car will start a really rough idle with a RPM swing/surge of about 300-500 RPM. It seems to be related to the power steering, since it can be most easily re-created with the steering wheel at either extreme when the pump is loaded down, but that's not the only time it happens.

Fluid levels are good, pump and everything seems to work fine, and it's never killed the motor, but it makes it hard to drive at low speed. The car can also be a little slow of the line, though runs fine if I kick it.

Just this last week the A/C has been acting up as well, but it seemed to be working fine before. However, it's been really hot the last week here, so it could be related to the A/C compressor. *shrugs* I ran the OFF/Auto test tonight and got 1 fault with a code 18, but have no way to look that up.

Car is going in to the dealer Monday, as they are the only reputable place I know of in Charleston, SC, and they seem to be decent guys.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.
