About two weeks ago I started feeling a random shuttering up front, it felt like I was driving on a rumble strip, but it only lasted for a second or two. This happened on three or four occasions. Last Wednesday night it happened again and this time the check engine light came on and stayed on. I was on the highway and didn't notice a major performance decrease until exiting the off ramp. The car idled horribly and wanted to stall. The next morning I had the code read at Autozone - P1230. Got back on saabnet and interpreted this as a bad throttle body.
I cleaned it, but this didn't make a difference (the inside was really clean - 47k miles.) It is an electronic issue for sure. On ebay I found bba-reman . com selling reman'd Saab parts (they do ABS modules and Sid's also.) They're in Mass, about 40 miles from me, so I called them and went and picked one up the same day. The lifetime warranty is what swayed me to go the used route versus $476 from the dealer for a new one. So far so good, the car is running normally now.
