the voodoo i do Posted by bobc [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: throttle body cleaning?, albanysaab, Wed, 13 Jun 2007 12:18:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I clean the TB at each oil change. it literally takes just a few minutes. I use a lint free rag, spray some carb cleaner on it and wipe whatever I can reach. Then I put a drop of 3 in 1 oil on the throttle plate pivots.
there is always a light carbon film on the throttle body so it couldn't hurt to remove it. And *maybe* lubing the throttle pivots gives the throttle motor an easier time of it.
Most TB failures are due to the electronics. and I cant honestly say that my TB routine will prolong the electronics. my TB has 76k on it now.
so, I do my thing and hope for the best.
