Your opinion please......about maintenance...SWEDECAR? Posted by Herb Hirsch [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
My 2000 Aero has 273K miles on it and is running very well. Since I'm retired I only use it for local driving (within 100 miles of home). This summer I'm driving to Troy, MI from NJ for the SOC. The car has been much more trouble-free than is typical. Eg.: The original fuel pump finally (with no warning) at 272K miles; three days later the heater control valve went.
Because of the high miles I'm questioning whether there are components which I should consider replacing on a preventive basis to reduce the risk of a breakdown 1,000 miles from home.
The components and procedures, which could cause a breakdown, already replaced within the last 50K miles include the following:
- fuel pump
- heater control valve
- DI cassette (free, under recall)
- crankshaft position sensor (preventive)
- PCV kit #6
- voltage regulator (done every 100K preventively; last done at 200K miles)
- serpentine belt and ALL pulleys (short belt)
- full major service at 270K miles
- TCS/ABS unit
- thermostat
- battery
- cabin ventilation fan motor assy.
I'm primarily concerned about these components (never replaced):
- throttle body assy.
- O2 sensors
- fan assy.
Should I replace the throttle body assy. and/or fan assy. solely because of age and mileage (7 years and 273K miles)?
Thanks,
Herb
