a tech II and only a Tech II can read the actual cause of the "service theft Alarm" message on the SID. It can tell you if the batteries are reading low, or there is some other problem.
it is highly likely that it is the batteries getting weak. You could take a chance, replace them and see if its fixed. Or get the codes.
I took the chance, and replacing the batteries fixed the problem.
