I wanted to extend my appreciation for some unique and very helpful contributions from this board. Today, I am the happy owner of a new 2002 9-5 Arc, black and tan interior, and I'm even springing for some extra goodies -- wood wheel, shifter knob, door pulls, cd changer. And to tie it together, I will swap the 2002 dash for the 2001, since it matches the accessory wood trim gloss and tone.
Here are a few memorable comments from this board that really helped me make the decision, sadly giving up a MB SLK 320 and overcoming several very worthy vehicles (MB M320, MDX, Acura 3.2 TL Type S, Audi A4, Volvo XC):
- The discussion of Safety and the European crash test results. Very greatful for the links and the extended discussion. Thank you.
- Discovery of the 2002 9-5 Promo Preview dealer cash incentive in December from this board. Very helpful.
- Encouragement to drive the various versions. I ended up torn between a 2001 Aero and the 2002 Arc, and the decision was made when I went back and the Aero was gone. However, the 2002 new auto tranny and the revised suspension restore some of the performance gaps vs the 2001, and I am happy with the compromise (and the wood).
- Upstanding nature of this board. Believe it or not, the "owners" of vehicles create a sort of 'fraternal order', if you will, and for whatever reason, I enjoyed this board more than the boards of other makes. Too bad for you that I enjoy your company more! Now you're stuck with me as I will be defending and promoting Saab.
Now if someone would just mail me that 9-5 book everyone's talking about, my saga would be complete!
Happy New Year, and many thanks.
