Ok, so I just picked up a 1999 9-5 SE wagon with the hk 8 speaker system. Here are my goals
1. Install an alpine 12" s sereies sub in the storage cpt on the left, opposit the stock 6" hk sub. Possibley keep the storage cover, cut a 12"d hole in it and put a speaker grille in line with the sub.
2. install the amp under the floor in the 3-4" deep storage area above the spare and below the carpet so that neither the sub or amp are visible, appearing completely stock.
3. keep use of center dash speaker
4. keep use of steering wheel controls

That is what I would like to see happen in the next week or so. Anyone tried this or think it might work? I would like to keep the stock head unit for the steering wheel controls and center speaker, but I do have a brand new Kenwood KDC-MP235 or 2035, same thing different names. I am 99% sure I would lose steering wheel controls, as I could not find a kit that worked with both the car and head unit at crutchfield, but I will keep looking. Also I have heard that it is nearly impossible to wire the center dash speaker to an aftermarket headunit. If this is the case, I am considering puting components in the corner dash speakers and mount both tweeters in the center spot.

Last thing, anyone know of a good spot to run the amp power wire through the insulation/firewall?
