We are on our second Arc wagon, third 9-5 wagon (first was Linear) '01 and '04 lease cars, and now an '04 CPO car we purchased out-of-state. I endorse everthing that's been said. These cars deliver handling, brakes, versatility, comfort, power- and the 2.3T 4-cyl will deliver best mileage in class. We just got finished looking around and getting the 3rd SAAB wagon (our 14th SAAB since 1972), finding that anything else just wouldn't deliver highway miles beyond mid-'20s. We just finished a trip to the East coast in the wagon we turned in (2.3T Sentronic) and over 2200 miles it got a solid 34 going out and 32-something coming back.
You won't go wrong with the Arc wagon- my only suggestions are to be sure that hte PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) system is upgraded before you drive it much, and use nothing but the SAAB-recommended synthetic oil in the engine, and change it and the filter every 5K.
