Mine does the same thing when cold. I think pulley too but haven't been able to work my stethescope down in there to ID the culprit. Usually and idler/tensioner pulley, but from the sound of it, these pulleys last a long time.
Mine's not too bad yet so I'm letting it ride. Write back if you figure it out.
