once or twice a month often on a 1/2 tank full or more the "tighten gas cap" light comes one. Once while at a train crossing for 10 minutes in 90F+ weather I got a check engine light with code that many on the board feel a check valve in the emission system should be replaced. Never have seen the code again in several months.

Questions:

1. can a clog of the emission valve cause light fumes in the passengers area? If so should I replace that valve before checking anything else?
2. are the tank seals prone to fail? I show no history from the factory records of a fuel pump replacment.
3. No notice of fuel on visible tank, access area in back seat or on ground.

Ideas? It really has not gotten any worse in 6 months but maybe with all these systems it points to something I am not familar with.
