Sounds like yours is failing too..... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Where is the cabin fan, Wil Donahue, Tue, 10 Jul 2007 11:06:11 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I replaced mine in mid-June after it started acting flaky a month before that. The fan only lasted one week after it started randomly not working.
The cabin fan is located in its own chamber, under the lower windshield fascia. Total time for D-I-Y replacement is about two hours. Cost of a new fan is nearly $300 from site sponsors and probably more at your Dealer! I used instructions posted with photos on this board to complete this task, as well as instructions from my WIS.
Be careful removing the lower windshield fascia. The proper way is to slide it forward (towards the front of the car) for an inch or so, then lift it slightly and slide it back up over the windshield to completely remove it. There are 6 to 8 nylon blocks/clips on the bottom side which secure it to the windshield. Roughly prying the fascia up to free it from the windshield will break these clips. I learned this from the mistakes of previous posters - the type of stuff not described well in the WIS.
