I am interested too. Reason to use OEM (+)

I am always searching for alternatives to OEM stuff. It seems, though, that, unlike the old 2.0l, the 2.3l does not take any larger oil filters. I've always assumed that the UK made ACDelco PF53 is exactly the same as the OEM SAAB Long Life filter, down to the "Made in United Kingdom" stamp. You have to be careful not to get the US version of the filter, which seems to be different. I would very much appreciate it if someone would shed more light on this issue.
I do see a reason to use OEM filters while the car is still under warranty. I had a filter seal leak once on my Subaru. Had the car towed to a Subaru dealer. All my expenses would have been covered under warranty if I had used an OEM filter. Unfortunately, I was foolish enough to use an ACDelco filter instead. I was stuck with a nice bill for towing, diagnostics and an oil change. From then on I've always used OEM filters in my Subarus...
