I have an '06 and I am very happy with it. Please drive an '07 to appreciate the improvements Saab has made over the years. Yes, it is dated in many respects, but I would argue that the only real drawback is the lack of side curtain airbags. And yes, the interior materials could be of higher quality.
But, most dealers are ready at this time of year to talk about invoice pricing. That coupled with the $6K Saab discount would put you in the car at a very attractive price. With a new 9-5 a couple of years away at best, your new "old" car should age gracefully. Also, buying new gets you a pretty darned good warranty.
My reference point is my wife's '07 MB E550(sport). With 19K on the 9-5, and 11K on the E550, I can honestly say that I prefer driving the 9-5. (Although you will get a closer spot in the valet parking lot in the MB.)
Drive anything else at that price point and see if you can rationalize anything but the 9-5...
