Hi all,
So after owning several saab 9k's for years on end I recently acquired my first 9-5, to take its place next to the remaining 9-3SS.
Initially I was looking for a 2.3t or T again, but could not find a real clean one. When I got this super deal on a V6 SE with relatively low miles (95k), very clean, full saab service history, I jumped.
First of all: I know the engine, my last 9k was a 1995 griffin V6. Head, block and timing are similar (good thing, so I could put the 9-5 updated tensioner into the 9k as well!), but what a difference otherwise! DI/T7 and the turbo make for a completely different car! much more like my 1992 2.3T than the 9k V6 , actually!
Until now:
- I found a copy of the WIS on the net, already had the EPC;
- changed the ATFIII once,
- transferred the bluetooth handsfree and the PDA-based satnav from the 9k into the 9-5,
- changed some vacuum lines preventively, found a broken PCV valve ($7);
- bought a fuel pump repair kit just in case.
Even if it is not due yet I will have the timing belt & pulleys changed next monday.
I there anything on this car that I should look for, must check, update, possibly replace or otherwise? Any advice?
thanks,
Jan Geert
