Inoperable overhead front dome light

During hot and humid Summer weather, the overhead fron dome light will not
work in our 2003 Saab 9-5 Linear Sport Wagon with a sun roof. All other
lights work just fine. I've replaced the bulb several times and it will
not work consistently. It will work for one or two opening and closing a
door. It will work again if you remove the bulb & wipe it off then replace it. The service tech. indicated that there is several motors in
the overhead area for the sun roof etc. One question, is there any way
moisture could be entering in the overhead area? May be moisture being
caused by difference in cabin temperature of the cabin area versus the
overhead area? The reason I ask is because also during hot and muggy days
when you close the rear hatch, there is a scrubbing sound coming from the
area where the struts are located. actually, the scrubbing sounds occurs
when you lift the hatch open or close it. The car has 55,000 miles on it.
So the warrany has expired. I've been told to repair this problem, the
entire overhead has to be removed to perhaps expose it. Any suggestions or any service bulletins on this problem?
