"Hosted"....easy.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Mon, 30 Jul 2007 18:30:54 In Reply to: How do I post pics..?, 9-5 Talladega, Mon, 30 Jul 2007 14:16:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The first part is finding a place to "host" your pics. The SaabNet Member Photo Galleries are an example of a host, a URL or website that you can go to view the pics, not stored on your own hard drive but accessable thru a URL or internet address.
So now you upload your pics to the SaabNet Member Photo Gallery, I use the storage of MSN and TSN. Other hosted sites are Webshots, Kodak Easy Share (though sometimes some of these require a log in).
Now you get your hosted pic up on your screen and right click on it and there'll be a line called "properties" that will show the URL or address of the picture beginning with http... Be sure to copy all of it and not just the line you see on the screen as the address at MSN for example is way, way, way longer than fits in the screen.
Paste that into the Optional Image URL: at the bottom of the page under Optional Link URL: and under Link Title:
The most common error is not copying the the full URL. And walla! Your picture appears in the body of the post, like magic. If you screw it up you'l get only the little white box with the red X in it and sometimes if it's a big pic, that box will appear and then turn into the picture.
Good Luck. Try clicking on my name and then my photo gallery, and then right click on one of my pictures and paste the URL or addresss in the properties into a post or reply.
It goes lots faster if you know the power of the right click for copying and pasting.
All the biggee web companies, MSN, Yahoo, AOL, and SaabNet have places to rent or it's free for hosting picture storage so anyone can view your stuff.
