Switched over from 9000 board + radio question

well, after my 1994, SAAB 9000 CSE AUTO (230K) did not pass the emmissions test, and after I was informed by my indie I'll have to replace the complete exhaust from engine to tail pipe plus I need 4 new tires, plus the auto trant. devoloped a thump between 1st and 2nd gear, I decided to accept his offer to give me $1000 as trade towards a 2003 9-5 Linear Sports Wagon with all options that are available (5 speed auto, Xenon, reverse alarm, etc.
The transition from the 9000 to 9-5 is easy, everything is in similar places except the ignition key. The seating position is a bit lower than the 9-5, but visibility is the same. The seats seem a little shorter and narrower. The ride is a lot better, but there's less feel in the steering wheel. The car can corner faster, though it seams to lean more than the 9000 (which had poly bushings).
Overall, quite an improvement except the radio. I removed from my 9000 a high end Alpine radio that can play mp3's and has an input for an iPod. The SAAB CD cannot play MP3 CD's, am I correct? Is there a way to connect the Alpine to the speaker system? is there an adapting interface that would just plug in rather than splice all the wires? would it affect the alarm system?
