We (gradually!) went from a 9000T and a 900T to a 9-5 Wagon and a 9-5 Aero sedan. The wagon was a must - since the hatchback in a reasonably sized Saab sedan was no more. It's been a wonderful car! It holds a family of four comfortably and there's enough luggage space for almost anything you can think of. (We do take a Thule box with us on driving vacations, though - works out very well.
Personally, I think the 4-cyl. turbo is a great engine, even when coupled with the auto tranny. Smooth and trouble-free, and in especially in Sport mode, plenty of power at your foot. We bought the 2000 wagon used with about 1-1/2 years of warranty left. No complaints EXCEPT when the ABS controller went south (out of warranty), the inexpensive fix was not yet posted here.
