First of all:
- The turbo spins whether you use it to pressurize the input air or not.
- Sport mode does not, in and of itself, request or provide more boost.
Now, in sport mode, the throttle is mapped more aggressively so smaller inputs to the "gas pedal" translate to larger throttle movement. And of course it will hold a lower longer under load. but aside from that I think the amount you use the turbo is mostly a function of how you drive regardless of mode.
in steady state driving (highway for example) there should be no difference in boost in sport or regular mode.
granted that in sport mode, one tends to push the car a little faster and harder 'cause it feels so good.
