Hello from Winnipeg:
I am so pleased with the way my 1999 SE V6 sedan drives with newest Michelin Primacy MXV4 (Grand Touring All-Season)tires, I must share my experience s far.
History: Four years ago at 64,000 km, I bought new Bridgestone Turanza LSH tires which I found to have great dry and wet traction with low noise and decent comfort. They stayed quiet right until one pair was at the wear bars and the other pair right behind them. They had a 80,000 km treadwear warranty which was NOT met. I reckon with using dedicated winter tires the last 2 winters, I got about 50,000 km out of Turanzas. I will say that after the first winter with the Turanzas, their snow traction was so poor, that convinced me to get winter rims and tires which of course are superior for that task.
Happily, the Costco where I purchased the Turanzas quickly offered a pro-rated credit toward a new set of tires. Here they only have Michelin and Goodrich brand rubber now. At first I was sure I'd go with the Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S (High Performance All-Season) based on The Tire Rack ratings and reviews. The Tire manager at Costco agreed that the Exaltos were very good BUT he gave a strong recommedation for the latest MXV4 Primacy version primarily because of low noise, comfort and "fabulous" wet performance. He was at a track & road test event comparing new tires and was highly impressed with the Primacys.
They are so new, the first user reports are just showing up this week at Tire Rack site. However, this Tire Rack comparison test, http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=86
gave them a great rating.
After about 1200 km, I feel the choice was perfect for my preferences. Great handling, superb wet & dry traction, quietest tires I have ever owned and they just pitter-patter over pavement imperfections. On a 50 km stretch of gravel road, I could not believe how quiet and straight they tracked.
I will say that compared to lower profile or stiffer sidewall tires, they do not have the sharpest initial turn-in response BUT they are NOT sloppy feeling. My car feels like new and I love driving it all over again.
These are not directional tires so they may be cross rotated too.
Unles you drive extremely aggressively and desire absolute all-out handling or have perfect smooth roads where you live, you will like these tires I'm sure.
