I had various noises in the steering on my '01;
Steering click - lubed the spline joint in column.
Clunking over bumps - replace sway bar links.
Sensitivity to bumps and road irregularities - replaced ball joints.
All of these are inexpensive to correct and very easily DIYable.
When checking sway bar links, both front wheels need to be at the same level (both hanging down, or both loaded) so there is no stress on the links via the sway bar. With one end of a link unbolted it is easy to wiggle the link around and see that the ends move smoothly and that there is no play.
Apparently a bad wheel bearing can cause similar symptoms but your car is very young for that to be a problem.
