I'm assuming you had 16" wheels before? This is actually pretty typical when moving from a smaller size rim to a larger size rim, what is happening, is that with a larger rim your side wall on the tire shrinks, giving you more "road feel" as there is not as much side wall to soak up the feedback from the surface you are driving on so you feel it tracking with the ruts a bit more. also I'm going to assume your 17" rims are wider than the 16" I think the stock 16" had a width of 6.5", the 17" that I put on at least were 7" wide. this causes a larger foot print on the ground that makes it not turn as easily when you are stoped/going very slow. These are great attributes for more spirited/faster driving, as it helps you keep the car in control, and they take a bit to get used to. I would check your tire pressure, tire wear, and wheel balance. also when it is time to get new tires, I would look into maybe a slightly taller tire for the rim, I did that and it improved the feel and ride quality without sacrificing the handling.
