This afternoon, after work, I opened up the driver's door panel again. Used my voltage gauge to check current flow between the console switch pack and the window's regulator motor... -12 volts down and +12 volts up. I think I can eliminate the switch box (only $180 bucks!).
The regulator wants to go down, but doesn't budge up. Tried tapping on the motor (maybe a "dead spot") to no avail. Since the regulator can not be moved manually, I presume the regulator gear teeth are engaging the motor's worm gear.
Is replacement of the window motor a DIY project, and if so, can anyone pass on some valuable tips?
Many thanks in advance,
Allen in New Orleans

P.S: To make matters worse, I managed to break one of the rollers while I was playing mechanic! Aaarrrrgh!
