I'm an idiot... I went to get gas tonight, and put the cap back on and thought "hmmm, maybe I should clear the code one more time" so I pulled fuse 17, and drove the mile the rest of the way home. no CEL... so I am thinking I am an imbicle, with all this greef over not having the cap on tightly... My only thought is, when I changed the plugs, I had filled the car up maybe 80 or so miles before (I always reset my trip between fill ups for my work mileage count) and have not filled up since BUT while my mpg was normal I seemed to go through a lot of gas quickly... (had to fill up at a quarter of a tank left after about 200 mi, instead of my normal 290-300 something miles. anyways, this is a long shot, but the same day I did the plugs the first time I also did my door on my car, the window had come off the track, and had to take the whole thing appart to fix it. now when I was putting the door back together I think I pushed the button for the filler cap because the cap was open the next day, and had not driven it after doing the work.(I had spent the night at my parents that night to take my sister and her husband to the airport the next day, and had done the work there because my tools are there) anyways, I think somebody stole gas out of my car... I think this for several reasons, #1) it would not be the first time, my parents had gas stolen out of their car about two or three months ago. #2) the lack of extra fuel in the tank than i'm used to, even though my mpg average went up by 2 according to my sid (which has been very accurate) after installing new plugs, and I filled it as normal, and #3) the fact that I went 80 mi, THEN had the problem, after finding the filler cap door open, presumably over night.

So my questions are these, would a cap not completly closed all the way throw a cel, but not have a code for the obdII scanner? also how difficult is it to siphon gas from this car if the main door is left open for you? is it easy to just stick a pipe in and pull it back out again? could they have left debree in there I should worry about? or am I just retarded and need to be hit over the head several times for my stupidity?
