Service Anti-theft Alarm

As I was driving to work Saturday night, the Service Anti-theft Alarm message popped up on the SID. i was on the interstate, doing at least 65 when the message popped up. I *think* I heard the alarm twice last night, but what I heard lasted less than 2 seconds each time. The second time I herad the noise, I know that I heard something because the cat woke up as well, whether it was my car I have no idea.
Anyway, as I was driving today, the message popped up again. Second time in four days. Today, the message came up as I was pulling into a parking lot, but while I was still moving.
My questions are as follows...any idea how long I have to put new batteries in before my alarm wakes up the entire neighborhood one night? And, if I pull fuse #14 will this prevent the alarm from going off while it is parked? Are there any consequences to removing the fuse every night when I park? I don't want to leave the fuse out all the time because I need the defroster sometimes, and I unserstand that the air conditioner is on the same fuse.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Stephanie
