Repair shop prices are quite high now a days. I have always been somewhat handy with cars, and always had older out of warranty, cars so my experience with dealers and mechanics is somewhat limited. Not to mention my sticker shock every time I see the labor rate posted. None the less there is an accepted business practice in the automotive world to charge what the "book" calls for. Sure you can get most of it done in less time, and maybe thats because they are expert at what they do. My question is if they are going to charge book time for work, why do I pay more if the job exceeds the predetermined rate?
I would also say you might be feeling a little bit trapped in not being able to shop around to find a better price. They got us there. As long as they are fairly reasonable price wise there not much anyone can do about that.
