and it turned out the inner guide flange on the upper small pulley had broke off and allowed the belt to craw over and shread. I did not notice the problem until I decided to do a full 60K pulley, tensioner and belt change since the car had 40K on the last one I did. Carefully check your sides of the upper fixed pulley (small one). Mine did it on the inside. It was a Saab OEM pulley. I have a Wazzee pulley for the next change to install now since it is all alluminum and no plastic. My NG900 has 144K on the original metal tensioner pulley and still going. Plastic has no place in automobile pulleys. The bearing cannot transfer heat to plastic to run cool.
