I did the same thing - an '01 Aero, CPO, from a dealer about 90 miles away. I guess my primary concern was making sure the car was what it SEEMED to be at 27K on the odo.
The dealer was a new Saab franchise tacked onto a Caddy dealership - a fairly clueless bunch of people, Saab-wise. A check of CarFax AND the Saab internal Iris report system confirmed that fact that the car had had one warm-climate owner, was bought at auction by the dealership, and there it sat.
The Iris report showed all oil changes and scheduled service had been done on time. It also revealed very little in the way of problems: a SID replaced, a DIC replaced with a cat-converter at the same time (typical for on-the-road DIC failure), a bunch of light bulbs, and that was it.
The car has proved to be trouble-free, and about all that's been done to it in the almost 3 years I've had it is routine oil/fluid changes, a bunch more light bulbs (did those myself, of course), a DIC replaced under warranty, and some tires.
The CPO was good for peace of mind, I think. HTH.
