Thank you sincerely to everyone who provided advice on brake pads to me several months ago. My primary desire was to get rid of the horrible brake dust being generated by my factory pads. [2003 Aero]
I installed Akebone Euro pads on all 4 wheels about 8 weeks ago. Stopping power seems to be equivalent. Brake dust is almost gone.
HOWEVER...I am getting a "singing" noise, kind of like "whoop, whoop" with these pads whenever I am at low speeds...backing out of the driveway, starting off from a stop, etc. It's incredibly annoying and embarassing (when people walking by look to see what's causing the noise). I changed my wheels / tires last weekend to my winter set and noticed the front pads do not appear to be wearing evenly. The rears appear to be fine and do not make noise. I can't imagine I installed the fronts wrong, since it was pretty much a no-brainer installation.
After doing so much research here on the board I found many people hold these pads in very high regard. I'm wondering if anyone else has had experiences such as mine with the pads being so loud or wearing unevenly. I think it's in my best interest to replace the fronts sooner rather than later and I'd like to stay with ceramics again due to the lack of brake dust.
Any opinions are welcome, providing you are speaking from experience. Please, I beg you, don't clog up the board with opinion not based in knowledge or experience on this topic. That really gets old sometimes.
