Replacement of the struts, shocks, brake pads and rotors together is more economical time-wise. These repairs are amongst the more common DIY projects.
Some thoughts:
1. Tools that are essential: spring compressor, jack stands, and a good complement of metric hand tools.
2. Do both fronts together; having one side viewable as a model while you're doing the other may be helpful is this is your first experience doing struts, pads and rotors.
3. Safety: Place jack stands under the subframe on both sides for the front. Use 2 jack stands in the rear as well when you get to the back.
4. Try genuinesaab.com for instructions.
5. For shocks and struts I always upgrade to Koni or Bilstein. eEuroparts and Tire Rack are two potential sources.
6. For pads and rotors I usually go to eEuroparts and I stick to OEM. Not everyone agrees; others have enjoyed good results with Akebono pads.
