Alas, poor engine lost its turbo.... MY99 2.3lpt SW Posted by CrNiFe [Email] (#408) [Profile/Gallery] (more from CrNiFe) on Tue, 18 Dec 2007 07:11:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
on the way home last night - awaiting the diagnosis, but when I get that much smoke (embarassingly large oily smelling drifts across the lot), and know that the engine has been well looked after, and have all the information here on board to study, it will only be a confirmation.
Imagine the local GM Chev dealer and service writer agreed today that we should move it across town to the Saab guys - they would have tried the work if it had been a bit newer, but the tech sheets for the MY99 weren't easily available. At least we agreed on that - no point wasting time and money.
Weird, because I had gone on a pretty good run (two hours at 125 km/h)earlier in the day, and I noticed a bit of hesitation when I took my foot off the accelerator, and I had made a mental note to get a throttle body service soon.
About 90000 km (55000 miles) of city driving on this turbo, since I see from the car's prior history that it had been replaced once.
You gotta luv it when the SID says "CHECK OK".
I must be on Santa's good list, because I was about to take the car on a holiday spin, and that would have been a real inconvenience for the family!
