I just did this, with the short belt (which it had when I got the car, a 99 2.3). It's pretty easy all things considered, especially if you skip the center pulley and use the short belt like Roger said. I would use the genuine Saab pulleys, they are not much more than aftermarket, you don't do this very often (every few years if you drive 30K/yr) and since failure means the car is undrivable (stranded). One thing that was suggested to me is to remove the tensioner (one hex bolt, 8mm or 6mm can't remember) and replace the pulley with it off the car, it's a little easier that way. I did not replace the tensioner but probably will next time. Consider putting some loctite on the bolts holding the pulleys/tensioner in for extra security. I think quasimotors.com has a writeup on it with pics.
