So they beefed up both axles, particularly the rear and reduced the GVWR while keeping the vehicle weight almost the same. Have you had more trouble with your 99 than your 05?
One has to wonder if this was an accident or if someone knows something was wrong in the initial design. Are the 07/08 manuals online? I wonder if they made further corrections post 06.
Saab's manual makes no sense. GVWR is the max load. Now if the max load is [curb weight plus driver plus load(GVWR less curb weight)], the GVWR can be exceeded by the drivers weight which is an unknown variable. This must be nonsense as it defeats the purpose of a GVWR.
Have you tried to resolve your problem through Saab? What about on the 05 which may still be under warranty? Any problems on the 99 post suspension change? Did you keep it all stock?
My 03 manual states
"Permissible load (in addition to driver) = GVW minus curb weight
The maximum permissible axle load, front or rear, must not be exceeded.
