this short vice long belt. It shows that the TSB (210-2486) is applicable to '04 and up . My dealer said there are no more longer belts and it must be for '98 and up cars, except those cars which have the lower wattage alternator must use a special belt. (It could be he is thinking back to the 9K days when several diameter pulleys were used on the alternators) He could not find the special belt in the 9-5 cataloge of parts only the short belt. He said that the pulley MUST be removed when the new belt (short) is installed, otherwise, a lot of vibration and noise is caused at certain speeds. That seems to be indicative of belt dynamics and a weak tensioner causing the belt to strike the pulley. My thoughts are that when the PS is cranked to its limits it loosens the belt by compressing the spring tensioner.
