Bobc:
This is good stuff. It represents an easy-to-do diagnostic test that can be applied regularly to avoid the sudden death experience when a fuel pump goes.
Here are a couple of additional thoughts:
1. Use a fuel pressure testor like the Actron CP7818 (now reduced to $32.04 at Amazon.com) - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006V2BI2/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0006V2BI2&linkCode=as2&tag=thesaabnetwork. It's easy to connect to the fuel rail at the fittng provided; a normal reading is 3.0 BAR or 43 psi.
2. AC\DC current clamps are available at much more affordable prices ($100 or less). A little Googling goes a long way. I love Fluke quality; I've had a Fluke DMM for 20 years...they never quit.
