It is a little stressful on the transmission but it should be able to tolerate the extra time in each gear for a long while. You may notice after several thousand miles the shift from first to second will become a little noisy especially on the down shift in sport if you consistantly use it. After the novelty of it wears off you will probably forget it is there. Think about the gas you are wasting is one reason not to use it!
The button I am a bit up set about is the "W" gear lock out elimination on my new car but then they provided paddle shifters so I can seledct 1,2 or 3. When I go to Connecticut to visit my kids, it is easy to get around using "W" in snow.
