Bee's wax on the upper side of the plate. an alternative but less sevice life is molly grease (be careful it will stain the door covering) if that doesn't stop it you could have a failed roller pivot which will require removal of the door stop mechanism.
One thing you may try if you are in a salty environment is to carefully clean the latch plates and detents try to get some oil on the roller pivot bearing places, on each side of the detent plate, and rapidly open and swing the door back and forth the oil may loosen the rollers allowing them to roll instead of sliding.
