We just bought a 2004 Arc wagon from a Saab dealer about 350 miles away. Due to high cost of flying and unpredictability of winter weather, we're having it shipped. Found the car on the Auto Trader site, but also looked at the classifieds here and on SaabUSA's CPO locator pages. I've never had a problem with buying Saabs long-distance, using the IRIS and Carfax reports as research materials.
I never expected to find a slightly used Saab Arc wagon in my neck of the woods,(western NY state) as the local dealer's sales staff apparently is only interested in selling me a new Saab, and the local indy who specializes in selling used Saabs is not to my liking.
If you're comfortable with a long-distance transaction, you can also sometimes overcome strange regional pricing stuff that occurs: just have a look at the very different prices for similar vehicles on the Saab CPO site - there's a wide range of selling prices that seems to track with geography.
Good luck!
