Yep. Saabs with high miles cost a lot of money. Just today I spent $1180 for a timing belt and tensioner job on my V6, serpentine belt and tensioner, and a transmission mount replacement as mine was completely sheared off. That's on top of the $1500 I dropped in October having my turbo rebuilt. I would look into getting a rebuilt turbo rather than a new one. A new turbo for my car, the V6, was going to be $2500 installed. That could save you big money. As for brakes, I did my fronts myself, pads and rotors, and paid less than $150 for parts. Yeah they're not exactly racing brakes but they do the job. How well do you know the neighbor with the Odyssey? Maybe you could share a beer and have him help ya out with them. They're no different than on any other car with disc brakes. If you're planning on keeping the car for a while just keep up with this stuff, that's what I'm trying to do. It's cheaper than buying a new car (to an extent).
