My car is a 2001 LPT auto-trans. wagon with ~ 126,000 miles.
Procedure:
Locate the charge air solenoid at the front of the engine near the rubber air bellows....you should see 3 vacuum lines. Check and inspect all of them...ESPECIALLY the hose coming off the " R " port.
If you trace the path of the " R " hose from the solenoid, you will find it Tees off into the ELCD line...(this happens approximately 5-6 inches from the solenoid.
The ELCD hose became brittle over time and broke. It WILL NOT trigger a CEL when it fails...your turbo boost performance will be reduced dramatically.
I found the ELCD broken hose lying behind the right front headlight. It is a molded one-piece hose about 8" long...NOT your normal 4mm vacuum hose, and must be ordered through a SAAB dealer, and/or e-tailer such as eeuroparts. The part costs about $28.00 plus tax.
As a matter of record, I wound up replacing ALL the engine vacuum lines I could find with new 4mm (USA 5/32 ") hose (when I replaced this ELCD hose).
Many of the shorter length 4mm rubber hoses crumbled in my hand as I removed them.
IF YOUR 9-5 IS OLDER THAN 5 YEARS, I heartily encourage you to go ahead and replace them at your earliest opportunity.
5/32" vacuum at my local parts house is 50 cents a foot. I bought 8 feet...and have some leftover just in case.
Regards to all.
